Living with Aphasia support group

 

ARTC offers a monthly Living With Aphasia support group. It is open to anyone affected by aphasia, including: 

·        People with aphasia

·        Family and friends of people with aphasia                              

The Living With Aphasia support group meets on the first Thursday of the month between November and June. 

Meetings are held at the Adult Recreation Therapy Centre from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  A Social Worker and Speech Pathologist lead the meetings. 

Each meeting has a topic or guest speaker, and time for sharing and support. Examples of topics we have discussed are: 

·        Presentation by a Pharmacist

·        Stroke and the brain

·        Getting on with your life with stroke and aphasia

·        Stroke prevention

·        The emotional journey

New at ARTC:

Stroke Survivors and Caregivers are welcome to join our new Stroke Recovery Group. This support, education and sharing group will be hosted at ARTC in Brantford the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1 PM. For more information, please call  ARTC (519) 753-1882.

 

Our annual Walk n'Roll event will be on May 27, 12 - 2 pm at the Lynden Park Mall. Pledge forms will be available soon. 

ARTC satellite program at the Willett in Paris is now offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Caregiver support group meetings take place the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 at ARTC in Brantford.

Living with Aphasia support group will take place 1 - 3 pm at ARTC on Thursday April 5 and Thursday May 3.

Aphasia Awareness Week Barbeque will be held Jun 7 at ARTC at    5 pm.
