Therapeutic Recreation Activities
Recreation Therapists at ARTC involve clients in activities
that are oriented to treatment, education or recreation as a means of improving
the health and well being of clients.
Our RT staff treat the whole person, designing programs
that meet their physical, social, cognitive and emotional needs. All staff are
available and willing to offer support and information about other community
resources available to assist caregivers in their roles.
Some examples of RT programs include:
Physical - bocci ball, movement to music, walks, gardening,
bowling, volleyball, woodworking, Wii games and crafts.
Social - cooking and baking groups, intergenerational
programs, holiday parties, guest speakers, discussion groups, luncheons, and
BBQs.
Cognitive - world travel, trivia, quizzes, crosswords, board games, and computer
games.
Emotional - reminisce, book club, discussion groups, music, drumming circle.
